ATTENTION MEMPHIS AND SURROUNDING AREA ARTISTS!

A GROUP EXHIBITION WITH A COMPETITION ELEMENT THAT WILL INVITE 3 EMERGING OR MID- CAREER ARTISTS FROM MEMPHIS AND SURROUNDING AREA TO PARTICIPATE IN THE EXHIBITION, "A WORLD OF OUR OWN".

1 OF THE 3  WHO GETS ACCEPTED INTO " A WORLD OF OUR OWN" WILL BE AWARD A 6 MONTH SHARED STUDIO SPACE IN THE CRANE CO. BUILDING OF MEMPHIS, MENTORSHIP BY A 30 YR ART PROFESSIONAL, THE CHANCE TO HAVE A SOLO SHOW IN CUTLER CRANE CONTEMPORARY.

IMPORTANT DATES:

• Deadline for Submissions: Sunday, April 16th! 
• Announcement of Acceptance: Wednesday, April 19th
• Delivery of artwork: Must arrive no later than April 25th 
• Opening Exhibition / Awards: Sunday May 14th
• Exhibition will continue until June 30th
  

(Should your work be accepted, we will require a statement from you sharing your experience as an artist, a personal story, poem, or a challenge within your art making career). We are sharing your story through your art.

ELIGIBILITY:

This call for submissions is open to…

• Artists 18 years of age or older
• Memphis and surrounding area artists
• Artists who will use and benefit from a studio space in downtown Memphis for 6 month along with mentorship.

JUDGING/AWARDS:

To be eligible to participate in the A WORLD OF OUR OWN, exhibition, you must first be accepted by way of "Jury Process" see online submission form below.

  Judging:

• Award giving will take place on site during the Opening Day May 14th.
• All decision of the judges are final.

 
Awards:

• The CRANE PRIZE - 6 Month use of art studio with mentorship and a solo exhibition. (The exhibition will be of works created during the 6 months studio day residency) 
• The Emerging Artists Prize $500
• The Purchase of your artwork to be exhibited in the CRANE CO. Building of Memphis as part of their permanent art collection. * This may be alone or combined with one of the other 2 awards.

 ENTRIES /  FEES

• It is free to enter and you must include up to three (3) images
• Only original works may be submitted. 
• Make sure that your photos are of good quality; this is how your work will be judged. 
• Submissions will be reviewed by the jury and artists will be notified of the results by email.
• Work must have been created within the last 24 months.

SUBMITTING ONLINE: 

• All submissions of art must be in jpg file format. No slides, photographs or DVDs!
• Fill out Submission Form with all required information, once completed with jpegs of your paintings and sent, your submission has been entered.

SALES AND REPRODUCTION

• Artworks sold will be shared 50% to Cutler Crane "Not for Profit" gallery and 50% to the artists.
  
• Cutler Crane Gallery reserves the right to reproduce and share any accepted entries for the use of present and publicity and promotion.

DELIVERY / RETURNING OF WORK:

• The artist is responsible for all charges relating to delivery of the artwork both to and from the exhibition site. The artwork must be appropriately packed in a sturdy re-usable box suitable for transportation both ways.
• Artwork must be suitably equipped with rings and wire for hanging, and must be clearly identified with the name of the artist on the back.

FRAMING: If framing is required.... 

• Works on paper should contain a white matt and a simple black frame (this must be professionally done)
•  Works on canvas (gallery stretchers) that are unframed must have finished edges.
•  Works on canvas that require frames (thin stretchers) should be in a simple black frame. If you have any questions about this please ask. 
• Work framed inappropriately will not be shown.
• If your work is already framed differently, please advise and we can discuss.
