HELENA MCCONOCHIE
Helena is an accomplished artist. Her natural impressions explore the evocative landscape of flowers, that have generated interest nationally and internationally, as these works are extraordinary pieces for any location regardless of the interior design. These pieces bring the warmth and vitality of the garden indoors.
Helena has drawn inspiration for her works from Dutch artist and master of light Jan van Vemeers, as well as Enlightenment artist Henri Rosseau.
“Flowers bloom in almost every color of the spectrum and appeal not only to the visual sense, but to the olfactory too. The fine texture and lines of a flower can easily be obtained by careful brush strokes forming the shape, modelling them, introducing the color and creating transparency in the flower. One of my favorite artists, early Avant-Garde artist, Georgia O’Keeffe, creates abstract pieces that demonstrate beautiful work of rhythm, movement, color, depth and form.
