Open to US and Canadian entries

USA Entries will be part of the online exhibition only should your work get juried in! 
You do have the option to ship it to Ontario for the in person exhibition if you choose to do so.

IMPORTANT DATES:

 9th EDITION, 2023   Please Note Dates!
  • Deadline for Submissions: September 9th
  • Announcement of Finalist: September 13th
  • Delivery of artwork:  September 27 to 30th
  • Fundraising Preview Cocktail Niagara: Saturday October 21st
  • Exhibition will continue until November 25th. Artwork return and pick up 29th, 30 Dec 1st.
  • Tickets To Preview Cocktail: To go on sale here soon!
(Should your work be accepted, we will ask for a 1-1.5 mins video to be used the evening of and as promotional previews) Details to follow.

ELIGIBILITY:

This call for submissions is open to…
  • Artists 18 years of age or older
  • Canadian and US Artists

JUDGING/AWARDS:

To be eligible for the “Brush Off” competition & exhibition, you must first be accepted into the competition by way of "Jury Process" see online submission form below.

  Judging:
  • Awards & Prize giving will take place on site during the opening night Preview & Cocktail Fundraiser. (Artists do not need to be present to win)
  • All decision of the judges are final.

 ENTRIES /  FEES

  • Entry Fee $40.00
  • All entry fees are non-refundable
  • Only original works may be submitted. 
  • Make sure that your photos are of good quality; this is how your work will be judged. 
  • Submissions will be reviewed by the jury and artists will be notified of the results by email.
  • Work must have been created within the last 24 months.

SUBMITTING ONLINE: 

  • All submissions of art must be in jpg file format. No slides, photographs or DVDs!
  • Fill out Submission Form with all required information, once completed with JPEGs of your paintings and the confirmation of payment via PayPal your submission has been entered.

SALES AND REPRODUCTION

  • Artworks sold will be shared 50% to art projects for Alzheimer's and 50%  to the artists.
  • The Brush Off reserves the right to reproduce and share any accepted entries for the use of present and future Brush Off publicity and promotion.

DELIVERY / RETURNING OF WORK:

  • The artist is responsible for all charges relating to delivery of the artwork both to and from the exhibition site. The artwork must be appropriately packed in a sturdy re-usable box suitable for transportation both ways.
  • Artwork must be suitably equipped with rings and wire for hanging, and must be clearly identified with the name of the artist on the back.

FRAMING: If framing is required.... 

  • Works on paper should contain a white matt and a simple black frame (this must be professionally done)
  •  Works on canvas (gallery stretchers) that are unframed must have finished edges.
  •  Works on canvas that require frames (thin stretchers) should be in a simple black frame. If you have any questions about this please ask. 
  • Work framed inappropriately will not be shown.
  • If your work is already framed differently, please advise and we can discuss.

The "BRUSH OFF Competition" is always searching for artists that exhibit originality, consistency, marketability and commitment to the art world. Both Emerging and established artists are welcomed.
